Tara has a background in Ballroom and Latin American dance styles. Steve on the other hand could only 'dad dance' prior to 2006. Since learning the Lindy Hop together we have taken many classes and workshops with many fantastic teachers. We take every opportunity to go to live music events, weekenders and dance festivals. Through the dance scene we have made some very good friends and many acquaintances.
We started Lindy Hopping in 2006 after being inspired by a couple dancing on their own in a tiny Irish bar on the Island of Malta in 2005. We got 'the bug' and began dancing up to five times a week and quickly moved from beginner to improver level. We now teach Lindy Hop classes at beginner and improver levels, weekly at the Curzon Centre in Beaconsfield and provide workshops at various venues.
Rock 'n' Roll
We started Rock 'n' Roll dancing towards the end of 2006 as a progression from our Lindy Hop. Having a good grounding in Lindy enabled us to progress quickly and we were able to teach our first beginners class in June 2009. We have been trained to teach by Beckie from Live2Jive and now teach on a regular basis at or Rock 'n' Roll Club in Ruislip. In 2011 we were invited to teach at a weekender for Boogloo Promotions and continue to work with Monica and her team on a regular basis.
